Go For A Balanced Vegetarian Diet

When we refer to vegetarian diets, they only include foods that are plant oriented like vegetables, legumes and cereals. Human society can be divided into several categories on the basis of their eating habits.

The vegan: is the total vegetarian food group of people who survive only on plant food and do not include any other food group. This group does not include any other kind of food items.

Lacto vegetarian: The other group of eaters is called the lacto vegetarian group which includes plant and cheese products.

Ovo-Lacto vegetarian: There is a third group of people called the ovo- lacto vegetarian group that includes eggs apart from plant and cheese products.

There is another group of people who do not eat red meat but their food includes chicken, plant and dairy products. But there is no particular group following a complete vegetarian diet.

Researches have shown that the vegetarian diets are low in fat and cholesterol when compared to the non-vegetarian items. This aspect prevents this group of people from falling under the effects of diseases like obesity, heart problems and diabetes. Vegetarian diet proves healthy only if it is well planned and includes all the important nutrients.

But, absence of a few important nutrients can make this vegetarian diet ineffective and bad for health. So, when going for vegetarian diet you must see that it contains all the nutrients. Vegetarian diet should include protein, minerals, vitamin A, B, carbohydrates and so on. Use of egg should be minimal because it contains a lot of cholesterol. Fruits rich in vitamin A and C are also recommended.

Vegetarian diet looks simple and the most convenient option but the truth is that it is very difficult to create a balance between all vegetarian food items. In case of non-vegetarian items, one item can compensate for the other but in case of vegetarian food it is very difficult to find an item of same value to compensate for a vegetarian item.

It is very difficult to plan a vegetarian diet schedule due to limitation in the available resources. While planning a vegetarian diet it is essential to cover all aspects and a balance between all of them is a must.

Whatever may be the case, the pure vegetarian diet concept is a rare one and is very difficult to frame. All individuals if not by non-vegetarian items, are influenced by milk and milk products at least. Thus completely vegetarian diets are hard to find. The concept is destined to be dominated by other factors as well.
